These three distinctly different pieces, all show the American idea of work hard, play hard. The painting is almost an exact visual of Fitzgerald's words, and depicts Gatsby's lavish parties. Also the trappings of wealth which Gatsby displays in his mansion as almost a means of saying, " I have arrived, I have conquered the American dream," are also displayed in vibrant colors in the painting. The song "Party Hard," also shows the idea of the American party and while we as Americans do not have as much leisure time in our culture as Europeans do in theirs, when we do party, we certainly party hard.
